On the 15th February 2024, the Independent Panel contacted victims-survivors registered with them, seeking expressions of interest from those who wanted to offer testimony.
This was Phase One of a very carefully planned and comprehensive testimony collection strategy.
Beginning the testimony gathering collection process with caution and care and acknowledging the respect victims-survivors deserve, the initial focus was on:
- Individuals over 70 years old with lived experience of one or more of the institutions; and
- Individuals with a life limiting illness, which may mean that they will be unable to give testimony if there is a significant delay in meeting one of the Testimony Facilitators.
