On the 29th May 2024, the Independent Panel contacted victims-survivors, to announce that they are now ready to begin Phase Two of the testimony collection process, and to seek expressions of interest.
Those contacted were from a database of people who have registered to receive regular updates from the Independent Panel.
Ensuring a non-adversarial and safe approach to testimony collection is the Independent Panel’s highest priority. The Independent Panel is aware of the importance of continuously learning from victims-survivors to improve the testimony experience for those bravely coming forward. Feedback from victims-survivors who took part in Phase One of testimony collection on what worked well for them and how the process might be improved, has been valuable. The Independent Panel is encouraged by the positive feedback received from participants to date.
“Can I take this opportunity to thank you on a personal note for your professionalism from first contact to present, your warm felt welcome and your comforting nature [and] making me feel so at ease…in this monumental moment to me.”
- Phase One Testimony Participant
Independent Panel members Sean O’Connell and Beverley Clarke, and our experienced testimony facilitators look forward to engaging with those who come forward as part of this Phase Two call.
The Independent Panel is very grateful to those willing to share their lived experiences and make a valuable contribution to this essential part of the Truth Recovery process.
